Hi, I’m a Visual Arts instructor and a multidisciplinary artist with a background in Film, Acting, and Sculpture.

Narrative, Mindfulness, and Sensory Awareness are my strengths in approaching Art Therapy.

I learned that it takes a lot of work to hold ourselves accountable for our own healing. Though healing sounds nice, it can be a bumpy road. I am here to share my courage and strength with you to walk through challenges and develop our unique therapeutic tools together.

I hope in our sessions we can discover your strengths and empower our healing work together!

If you would like to know me more, you can visit my website www.serlyris.art for more details.

I am excited about combining my two passions art and counselling to help others. I think art is a way for people to express themselves when words seem not enough.

I bring a client-centred, nonjudgmental approach and enjoy working with clients from all walks of life.

I have worked in Healthcare for over 30 years and know it can be intimidating trying to find someone who is a good fit for you, to speak with about your struggles and overwhelming feelings.

My name is Sandi Smoker. I am an artist (@smokeypointarts) and Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner. After graduating with an MA in Theological Studies from Regent College in 2020, with concentrations in both the Arts and Spiritual Formation, I completed 12-months of Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education during my internship and residency with Providence Health Care. I served on PHC staff, as psycho-spiritual counsellor in acute care psychiatry, geriatric medicine, critical care and end-of-life. I study Art Therapy with the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. I live in the Outer Southern Gulf Islands and serve as Mental Health Counselling Supervisor with Pender Islands Health Care Society.

Why arts in therapy? Christine Valters Paintner, author of Awakening the Creative Spirit, writes, “To honour the power of the arts, we offer them in service of healing and wholeness as an integral element of the entire experience. We make significant space to listen for what they reveal to us…creating space and creative expression for healing, growth, and connection.” (C. Valters Paintner, 2010)

Through creative accompanying, perhaps, the art therapist serves as a witness to the ever-unfolding story of a life, offering a supportive, safe, and listening presence.
